The first defining feature of this knife is its full-flat-ground PlainEdge™ blade, which is crafted from Crucible® Industries’ CPM® 20CV. CPM 20CV is an extremely wear resistant and corrosion resistant powder metallurgy stainless steel that contains a high volume of vanadium carbides and the highest amount of chromium of any vanadium-rich stainless steel currently available.

Not to be outdone, this knife’s unique handle combines red fiberglass-reinforced nylon (FRN) with a black Zome treatment. The FRN components are first injection molded in a base red color, then hand dyed using a painstaking process called Zome (pronounced “zoh-may”). Inspired by traditional Japanese art forms, expert artisans hand brush a black dye onto each handle to create distinctive, one-of-a-kind patterns. This labor-intensive technique is reminiscent of classical hiki-zome (brush dyeing) and makes every one of these knives an individual work of art.
